Rana el Kaliouby to Bring ‘Emotion AI’ to DigitalXChange Mainstage

You could say Rana el Kaliouby wears a lot of hats. She’s a computer scientist, technologist, entrepreneur, and the co-founder and CEO of Affectiva – makers of facial and body language recognition technology. This year, we’re excited to host Rana as a keynote speaker at DigitalXChange ‘18, where she’ll bring her expertise and experience to the mainstage.

DigitalXChange is the premier digital quality conference. It brings together some of the top visionaries, executives, and decision makers who are looking to learn about – and drive – the future of digital product quality.

The annual event features inspiring keynotes, real-world success stories, and tons of time to network with industry leaders.

Rana is one such industry leader. With Affectiva, she is on a mission to humanize technology with what she calls Emotion AI (also known as emotion recognition or emotion detection technology). Affectiva offers industry leading technology for the analysis of facial expressions of emotions.

A person’s facial expressions, gestures, body language, and tone of voice can communicate a lot of information in a nonverbal way. As it stands today, though, these nonverbal cues are only understood in person-to-person interactions. Affectiva’s goal is to develop technology which can detect these emotions and nonverbal cues the same way humans do. Rana’s long-term vision is to develop Multimodal Emotion AI – technology which combines analysis of both face and speech as complementary signals to provide richer insight into the human expression of emotion.

Rana envisions and works to create a world where devices and technologies that once separated us will bring us together. It’s the next frontier in artificial intelligence, with commercial applications across industries – and she says it’s closer than you might think.
