Applause Makes Key Hires to Bolster Executive Team for Next Wave of Growth

Moves enhance company’s future position on product development and go-to-market fronts

Boston, Mass. – October 29, 2014 – Applause, the 360° App Quality™ company, today announced it has added a pair of high-profile hires to its executive team – Bernard Chien as the new CTO and Tom Bonos as Senior VP of Global Sales. The hires strengthen the company for near-term growth across its app quality offerings and its go-to-market efforts.

A software industry veteran with extensive SaaS experience, Bernard Chien brings more than 20 years of experience to his new role as Applause CTO. He previously served as the CTO of both MedVentive and Radisphere, and before that, had successful stints at athenaHealth and SaaS pioneer, IntraLinks. He also co-founded the e-commerce company, Savant Technologies. As CTO of Applause, Chien will be charged with advancing the pace and breadth of Applause’s app quality tools offerings. The company recently expanded its analytics offering , and has a full pipeline of new product launches headed into 2015.

Tom Bonos joins Applause after serving as the Executive Vice President of Sales for ServiceSource, Inc. At ServiceSource, Bonos managed the company’s combined Managed Services and SaaS sales teams, which achieved nearly $300MM in 2013 revenue. Earlier in his career, Bonos managed North American sales teams for Oracle, SAP America and Benchmarking Partners/Surgency. Bonos takes on the top sales job at Applause, where growth has been steep since launching in 2008, and will lead the company’s rapidly expanding global sales operations.

The hires are the latest news in what has also been a headline-filled year for the app quality company. In January, the company announced it received a $43MM E-Round, led by Goldman Sachs . In May, the company announced and expanded vision and changed its name from uTest to Applause. At the same time, the company spun off anew, tester-centric uTest and made its formal entry into the EU with a major acquisition of leading German crowdtesting company, testhub (which became Applause EU). The company expanded its footprint in other ways as well this year – through a global reseller partner program and business collaborations with the likes of IBM,Crittercism andIntel .

The company also saw steep growth and added to its collection of accolades in 2014.
